Pathophysiology of Fever

Pathophysiology of Fever

Fever can be caused by a brain disorder or due to toxic materials that affect temperature regulation center. Substances that can cause stimulation of the central effects of temperature settings that cause fever are called pyrogens. Pyrogen substances may be proteins, protein fragments, and other substances, especially toxins polysaccharides, which are released by toxic bacteria resulting from degeneration of body tissue during an illness causing fever.

The mechanism of the onset of fever begins with the body's reaction to pyrogens. In this mechanism, bacteria or tissue fragments will in phagocytosis by blood leukocytes, tissue macrophages, and large granular lymphocyte killer air.

The entire cell is further breakdown of the bacteria to digest the results dalamcairan body, also called leukocyte pyrogen substance. This substance when it comes in the hypothalamus will cause fever by increasing the body temperature within 8-10 minutes. This substance prostaglandin E2 also induces the formation of these substances, which in turn works on the hypothalamus to evoke fever reaction.
